Femke Kempkes and Machteld Aardse created “Rooted - Democracy Of Trees”, a light artwork shown at GLOW Eindhoven 2025 in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
There is a majestic tree in Eindhoven’s Vonderkwartier. Artists Femke Kempkes and Machteld Aardse drew inspiration from the tree and set out into the neighborhood with residents of the Vonderkwartier, seniors from Vitalis Vonderhof, and the city forester, searching for tales. What animals burrow among the roots?
