Winter Aconites

by Frances White

🏆 Honorary Mention · Prix Ars Electronica 1994

In 1994, the Prix Ars Electronica jury recognised “Winter Aconites” by Frances White (Digital Musics & Sound Art) with a Honorary Mention.

The winter aconite is a species of flowering bulb (Eranthis hyemalis). Its small, yellow, buttercup-like flowers are among the very first to appear each year; in the northeast, it can bloom as early as February, while there is still snow on the ground.
