Art and science, research and teaching shall be free. — Humboldt University
“Art and science, research and teaching shall be free. — Humboldt University” is a light installation presented at Festival of Lights Berlin 2026 in Berlin, Germany.
On the historic facade of the Humboldt University, light becomes a voice for one of our most precious values. Softly shimmering sparks build up in bold letters to form the promise of the Basic Law: “Art and science, research and teaching shall be free.” The architecture itself begins to glow and vibrate.
